Every victim of SCA needs high‑quality CPR

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) occurs when an electrical malfunction of the heart causes it to suddenly stop beating properly. A victim’s best chance of survival is immediate treatment with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and an automated external defibrillator (AED). CPR chest compressions are critical to helping the heart establish a shockable rhythm. Without high-quality CPR, the likelihood of a successful shock is greatly diminished.
