Webinar: Mechanical Power: A New Way of Thinking About Neonatal Ventilation
Join ZOLL® and Prof. Daniele De Luca for a live discussion, ‘Mechanical Power: A New Way of Thinking About Neonatal Ventilation'.
Mechanical power (MP) refers to the amount of energy transferred to the lungs by mechanical ventilation over time.1 This energy transfer can result in excessive mechanical stress and strain, which may contribute to ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI).2 MP can be used to assess the potential risk of VILI.1,2 However, data for neonates was not available.3 The first study to investigate mechanical power delivered during invasive mechanical ventilation in neonates was conducted by De La Rubia, et al. in ‘Mechanical Power and Energy in Invasively Ventilated Newborn Infants’.3
During this webinar, Prof. Daniele De Luca, co-author of the study, will discuss:
- Mechanical power (MP) as a concept and what is MP in neonatal ventilation?
- Calculating MP in neonates
- Key findings in newborn infants from the study
- What could MP mean for neonatal ventilation in future?
