Unlearning Cardiac Arrest

Rialto, California EMS Chief Joe Powell will discuss the science behind his department’s new Cardiac Arrest Survival Toolbox and explain how you can implement it in your community.

Driving a Packaged Resuscitation Approach

Eager to improve cardiac arrest outcomes, the Naperville Fire Department (NFD) researched and implemented a “resuscitation package” based on local EMS System protocols. In this session, Bureau Chief Jim Kubinski and EMS Training Assistant, Billy Croft, will review the NFD’s partnership with the local EMS System and Project Medical Director, the training approach they used to create confidence and buy-in from nearly 200 fire department personnel, and the significant change in the way cardiac arrest incidents are managed. Learn how this new approach is already improving outcomes in their community.

Behind the Science: The Rialto Cardiac Arrest Survivability Toolbox

Rialto’s EMS department made drastic changes in its approach to cardiac arrest to optimize response efficiency and improve outcomes. Learn more about the science that drove these changes and ultimately led to improved outcomes.
